About the registry
An independent archive of personal dedications
Meridian Celestial Registry exists for one purpose: to hold a permanent, verifiable record of a name someone chose to give a star, together with the words they wrote alongside it.
The idea is simple. You choose one of the real, catalogued stars in our catalogue — stars with published positions, magnitudes and spectral classifications — and give it a symbolic name. That name, your dedication and the star's astronomical data are recorded together in the MCR Celestial Registration Database under a permanent registration number.
We built the registry around a few convictions. The first is that the astronomy should be honest: we present catalogued data and we plot real coordinates, but we never dress a symbolic naming up as an official designation, and we never suggest affiliation with an observatory, space agency or the International Astronomical Union.
The second is that the record should outlast the moment. Registrations are not subscriptions. A registration number, once issued, is permanent, and it can be verified through the public registry search at any time.
The third is control. A dedication can be personal. Owners decide whether their dedication appears in public search and whether their certificate can be shown publicly at all. Private registrations still verify — they simply do not disclose.
Finally, the delivery should be immediate. Meridian Celestial Registry is entirely digital: no printing, no packaging, no shipping. Once payment is verified, the star is assigned, the number is allocated and the certificate is generated automatically.

Our standard
Every star in the catalogue is a real catalogued object. Coordinates are J2000 equatorial positions, magnitudes and spectral types come from published catalogues, and nothing is invented to fill a gap.
Our limits
A symbolic registration is commemorative. It does not confer ownership, does not rename the star officially, and carries no scientific accreditation. We say so on the certificate itself.
Our records
Administrative changes to a registration are logged with a reason in an internal audit trail, so a corrected name never silently replaces the original record.
Meridian Celestial Registry provides symbolic star naming registrations maintained in its independent private database. These names are commemorative and are not official astronomical designations recognized by the International Astronomical Union.
